Shared hosting provider Easy CGI offers upgrade to .NET 3.5
Pearl River, NY -- Easy CGI, a leading provider of Windows hosting, is launching .NET 3.5 hosting for all customers of its shared hosting plans. The seamless upgrade enables current customers to take advantage of all the new features this updated version of .NET Framework offers. HostReview.comFriday, December 14, 2007; 03:47 AM
Lexington, MA — BladeLogic, Inc. (Nasdaq: BLOG), a leading provider of next-generation data center automation software, announced the findings of a data center automation survey the company conducted last week. The survey was part of a webinar hosted by BladeLogic entitled, “Turning Your Data Center into a Profit Center.” Over 400 IT managers and executives from leading global organizations registered for the webinar, which featured a live roundtable discussion with senior-level IT executives from E*Trade, General Dynamics and VeriSign. The interactive online survey was designed to poll the audience on key issues regarding each organization’s IT management strategy. As part of the survey, when the audience was asked what were the most critical elements in the data center that demand automation, over 90% of the respondents selected servers and applications. Respondents also overwhelmingly responded that configuration management, over other areas such as service monitoring and problem management, was the top management function that required automation.“The results of the webinar survey clearly indicate that in order to make the biggest impact on addressing the cost, risk and complexity of managing the data center, automating the management of servers and applications is a priority,” said Vick Viren Vaishnavi, vice president of marketing, BladeLogic, and moderator for the webinar. “With attendees representing nearly every major industry segment, the survey responses clearly demonstrate that configuration management is an important priority for most IT organizations.”In the webinar, the executives from E*Trade, General Dynamics and VeriSign discussed their best practices for automating their data center environments and the business benefits they have experienced by doing so. These leading IT executives also shared their data center automation insights, business drivers for automation, key challenges, critical risks and lessons learned. The webinar panelists indentified major cost savings in areas such as:• data center operations costs by improving server to administrator ratios; • administration costs by consolidating tools and centralizing management of multi-vendor, multi-platform environments;• provisioning costs by consolidating and centralizing all activities across platforms;• compliance audits by automating the enforcement of compliance policies; • software deployment costs through increased accuracy of distributed application rollouts across environments;• service downtime costs by enabling fast rollback of incorrect configuration changes; • and operating costs by automating manual and error-prone procedures.Among the many best practices cited by the webinar panelists, the ones that were credited as critical to reducing costs were:• workload sharing that enables IT organizations to handle operational tasks using lower cost resources;• shared services that enable a platform agnostic operations model for consistent management across platforms;• and adopting a policy-based approach to implement and enforce continuous compliance to reduce misconfigurations that cause service downtime. To view an archived version of this webinar, please visit the BladeLogic website at: http://www.bladelogic.com.About BladeLogic (NASDAQ:BLOG)BladeLogic is a provider of leading data center automation software with a large installed base of Fortune Global 500 customers, including 21 of the top 100 global companies, 3 of the top 10 aerospace and defense companies, 7 of the top 25 commercial and savings banks, 3 of the top 5 securities companies, 2 of the top 3 entertainment companies, 2 of the top 3 general merchandisers, 7 of the top 12 pharmaceutical companies and 7 of the top 10 telecommunications companies. Case Study: Phase2 Technology Leverages Managed Hosting to Focus on Core Business Objectives
Technology Support at the Cost of Customer Service
A leading provider of adaptable web software solutions, application development and consulting services, Phase2 Technology specializes in solving unique business challenges by providing consulting and technical solutions in practice areas that include: content management, membership and constituent management, CRM, online news and publishing, community tools and identity management. At the core of Phase2’s business objectives is providing tangible technical expertise with personalized and effective customer service that caters to the best interest of its clients.
With the amount of service and support that Phase2 offers its clients, the company knew it would be difficult to manage a data center with the same resources it devotes to technology development and customer management. To help it maintain focus on customers, the company opted to outsource several IT functions including the deployment, maintenance, and administration of their customer supporting, public facing network. In selecting a hosted provider, Phase2 was looking for more than just a technology company; they wanted a long-term partner that would understand not only their technology and business objectives, but also those of their clients.
Initially, Phase2 chose a well-known, national managed hosting provider to deliver hosting and technical support. Soon however, Phase2 grew dissatisfied with the customer service and the hosting provider’s lack of understanding.
“We felt like we were just another service order number and there was never any individual attention to our needs,” said Frank Febbraro, CTO for Phase2. “Every service call led to a different client service manager who knew nothing about our IT concerns and capabilities. Instead of focusing on business growth and development, we spent more time managing those we hired to manage our IT.”
Technology with a Personal Touch
Phase2 recognized the need for a new managed provider that would deliver the personal attention necessary to understand Phase2’s technology and customers service needs and build out a program that catered specifically to them. Phase2 began an extensive review process, looking at several different providers, and upon the recommendation of one of its own customers, Phase2 discovered BlackMesh, Inc., a provider of information technology solutions for small and mid-sized businesses. Almost immediately, Phase2 realized that BlackMesh was the perfect fit for their needs.
Once the company began working with BlackMesh, Phase2 saw an immediate change in the level of personalized customer service compared to its former national hosting provider. With the individualized attention BlackMesh gave Phase2, the company was able to refocus its resources on its core business, confident its IT needs were being met.
“After the issues with our former hosting provider, we realized that we needed a company that could dedicate a team of experts to understand, implement and improve our information technology infrastructure,” said Febbraro. “BlackMesh was not only able to meet those requirements, they also oversaw a seamless transition into their data center. The team at BlackMesh listened to our concerns, assessed our situation, and then provided the resources and expert guidance necessary to manage our technology infrastructure.”
One key aspect to Phase2’s success is the unlimited customer service plan that BlackMesh provides. Considered a competitive advantage by Phase2, this plan allows Phase2 to leverage BlackMesh’s expertise throughout all aspects of its business operations. BlackMesh is willing to accommodate Phase2 at anytime, even operating at midnight and beyond to update Phase2’s servers.
By understanding Phase2’s business and customers, BlackMesh uses its in-depth expertise to solve several key technology challenges. In one specific instance, BlackMesh installed (and currently maintains) an LDAP server to consolidate the user management for Phase2, allowing all users to have the same identity, no matter which server they log in to.
The Path to Business Growth
Since selecting BlackMesh, Phase2 has expanded its client base and its own hosted offerings. Before BlackMesh, Phase2 did not have any hosted clients, but since 2005 Phase2 has added over 30 clients that are hosted on BlackMesh servers.
Phase2’s business continues to grow and as a result, the company expanded its space within BlackMesh’s data center, nearly doubling their hosted capacity in the past two years. Through building a one-on-one relationship, BlackMesh has developed a comprehensive understanding of Phase2’s technology needs, which allows BlackMesh to have a proactive customer service plan that identifies potential issues before they become problems.
“BlackMesh has far exceeded our expectations in expertise and customer service. You know that they really care about our company’s success,” said Febbraro. “By understanding our specific needs, the expert team at BlackMesh allows us to focus on building our business, instead of managing the everyday details of IT management. BlackMesh provides the same top tier customer service that we deliver to our own customers, building a relationship that enables our organizations to grow together organically.”

BlackMesh provides the same top tier customer service that we deliver to our own customers, building a relationship that enables our organizations to grow together organically.”
Web Host IntelWeb.biz Offers Cheap Web Hosting for Small Sites
April 08, 2009 - Web hosting provider IntelWeb.biz is taking a shot at the low cost web site market. Following the trend behind Yahoo's free SMB hosting and Google's free blog hosting, IntelWeb is offering hosting packages from $3 per year to $25.
3 dollars buys you 10 MB of disk space and 150 MB of monthly transfer while the largest package they advertise is for 200 MB of space and 3.5 GB of transfer.
It seems this trend among web hosts is aimed at emerging businesses or more established businesses with no or low web presence in order to gain as large a market share as possible and then expand with their customers as their sites grow.
It's hard to imagine a fully-fledged commercial web site staying under 200 MB of disk space let alone 10.
The prices are great for small time entrepeneurs now but it will be interesting to see what the market looks like down the road when things have consolidated.

iomart Managed Hosting Announces New Website
iomart hosting, the managed hosting and data centre services company, has introduced a new brand identity which the company said reflects its focus on hosting.
According to the company announcement, the new identity is intended to reinforce iomart's commitment to integrating realistic and energy efficient stewardship into every aspect of its business, particularly its 4 UK data centres, for the benefits of its clients.
Phil Worms, Marketing Director, stated: “Data centres and server rooms are by design, un-environmentally friendly buildings and they will never be ‘green’. The internet is driving the world’s economy and the demand for computing power keeps rising and it’s a trend that does not show any signs of slowing. Over the past few months, we have implemented several initiatives which tangibly demonstrate our desire to sensibly address the issues that our industry faces.”
“For example, we are founder signatories of the EU Data Centre Code of Conduct committing us to implement the Code’s energy efficiency best practice, meet minimum procurement standards, and annually report our energy consumption. We have added a range of standard virtualised servers to our core product portfolio and we are about to roll out an online control panel, which provides every one of our hosting customers with real time access to their server’s energy and bandwidth consumption straight from the rack.”
“At the end of the day, iomart hosting sells peace of mind to its customers. Our customers expect high availability, resilience and guaranteed SLA’s as standard, but by hosting with us they also have the added confidence that we are actively seeking to reduce hosting operational costs, both financial and environmental, on their behalf.”

Time to Renew? Save Some Money!
Renewing your web hosting account with Lunarpages has always been supremely easy, but now we are making it affordable, too!
This month, we reached out to our customers on Basic, Windows, Business, and VPS plans to help them save some money on their renewal bills by renewing early for a longer period of time. If you’re asking yourself, “But how can I save money by renewing for a longer billing cycle?”, we’d love the chance to explain and help you save some money as well!
What is this Early Renewal Special?
Our Early Renewal Specials offer the chance for customers hosting on our Basic, Windows, Business, and VPS Plans to save some money by renewing early and choosing a longer billing cycle for a discounted price. By upgrading to a longer billing cycle, we can afford to discount your price per month, which means you save more in the end.
What is the Discounted Price?
That all depends on which hosting plan you are currently on!
For Basic Hosting Plan customers, save $50 by upgrading from a 12 or 24 month cycle to a 36 month! (36-month cost is $4.95/month + 3 free months!)
For Windows Hosting Plan customers, save $108 by upgrade from a 12 or 24 month cycle to a 36 month! (36-month cost is $7.95/month!)
For Business Hosting Plan customers, save $216 by upgrading from a 12 or 24 month cycle to a 36 month! (36-month cost is $16.95/month!)
For VPS Hosting Plan customers, you have multiple ways to save!
If you have a 24 month cycle, upgrade to 36 months and save $504! (36-month cost is $35.95/month)
If you have a 12 month cycle, upgrade to 24 months and save $240! (24-month cost is $39.95/month)
If you have a 1, 3, or 6 month cycle, upgrade to 12 months and save $180! (12-month cost is $44.95)
How Do I Take Advantage of this Offer??
Easy! Send an email to earlyrenewals@lunarpages.com and include the following information so we can help you out:
Your Primary Domain Name
Security Verification/Authorization (last 4 digits of your credit card on file)
If you can’t provide the last 4 digits of your credit card, please include your account username, first/last character of your password, and full billing address
Information on which upgrade you are interested in: i.e. “Please upgrade my VPS Hosting Plan to 12 months at $44.95/month!”
Yep, it’s that easy. You can also give us a call so we can further assist you in upgrading your account to take advantage of any of these offers that you are qualified for!
Are There Any Terms for this Offer?
Yes, there are a few things you will want to keep in mind, but they are very simple too:
The Renewal time you are purchasing will be added to your current renewal date. So if you are renewing in September for a 3-year Basic Plan, the 3 Years + 3 free months will be added to your current renewal date in September. That means, you won’t lose any of your hosting time!
The price for the Early Renewal does not include domain name registration, so that is always billed separately.
